31 Dirapuk Gompa Entrance Steps On Mount Kailash Outer Kora [31 of 72]
A series of steps lead to the entrance to Dirapuk Gompa (5074m). Dirapuk takes its name from the words dira meaning female-yak-horn and puk meaning cave. The great monk Gotsangpa meditated her, supposedly from 1213 to 1217, and Buddhists say he first discovered the kora route around Kailash. He was led to Dirapuk by a yak that turned out to be the lion-faced-goddess Dakini (Tib, Khandroma), who guards the Khando Sanglam La.
